Frank’s Spaghetti House
Corpus Christi, Texas
Frank’s Spaghetti House was built in 1921. This area suffered tremendous damage by the Category 3 hurricane that hit just south of Corpus Christi in 1919. The building was first a home that was built to house siblings that had come to help with the re-construction after the hurricane. Prior to becoming Frank’s Spaghetti House, the building had served as several types of businesses and was even a brothel at one point. Of course this history also made it difficult to get the restaurant up and running in the very beginning.
Frank had a friend that lived in this area and he convinced Frank to move here from Sicily so they could open an Italian restaurant together. Unfortunately when Frank arrived here, his friend backed out. Frank decided to stay here and open the restaurant anyway, which he did in 1947. Due to the building’s racy past, Frank had to come up with unbelievable specials to get patrons to come to his restaurant. His hard work paid off and today Frank’s Spaghetti House remains a very popular place to dine. Frank sold the restaurant to the Moody family in 1980. The restaurant continues to be a family owned and ran business today. The recipes were taught to them by Frank himself. Unfortunately Frank passed away a few years back, however, his spirit and the history of this establishment lives on thru the Moody family.
Having been patrons of Frank’s Spaghetti House for a number of years, we have heard several stories of the ghosts that frequent the restaurant. After speaking with several of the employees and the owner’s themselves, we could not wait to get in and investigate. Would we be able to capture Frank’s mother-in-law on the 2nd floor? She has been seen and heard many times over the years. Who were the little girls who were often heard giggling? Is the Ghost Waitress on the 2nd floor a previous employee? With 86+ years of history, we were not sure what we would find. Even Frank himself had told numerous stories about the paranormal things that he had experienced over the years.
Gulf Coast Ghost Hunters Association had the honor of investigating Frank’s Spaghetti House in November, 2007. Although we have not done our reveal with the owners, Mike and Elma Moody, our evidence will be posted on our website once we do. I can tell you that each one of us had personal experiences while we were there. We can’t wait to do our follow up investigation.
The paranormal activity at Frank’s is known to be more frequent during the holidays. I guess they like to celebrate just like we do. Frank’s Spaghetti House is open for lunch during the week and for dinner Monday thru Saturday. The restaurant is located at 2724 Leopard in Corpus Christi, TX or you can call them at 361-882-0075. Tell them Gulf Coast Ghost Hunters sent you!
Stop in for a very filling lunch or romantic dinner. You just might have an experience of your own!
